I have set my self a task. My task is to start work in a PR company in Japan within the next 2 years from today’s date.
Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it?
Well, I’m going to map out what I’ve done so far, and what I intend to do.
Along the way I want to shed some light on the PR industry in Japan and Japanese life in general.
Hopefully you’ll see, it’s not as easy as it sounds. But if it was easy, anyone could do it.
I invite anyone who reads this to comment with advice or to share their experiences with me.
As well as a self motivating tool and promotion of my cause, maybe this can help inspire anyone who is in the same boat as myself.

- I am a 26 year old Scot living in Japan. In 2007 I graduated from the University of Glasgow with an honours degree in Sociology and Anthropology. I concentrated in the fields of Media, Consumption, Religion, International Relations and Perception of Environment. Upon graduation I had a great desire to live in another country, learn a language and properly understand another culture. Japan and Japanese is pretty far from typical Scottish life. So here I am. It finally caught up with me this year what I wanted to do as a long term job. Work in the Public relations industry. I had come across it many times in reading and study, but never seriously considered it as a career until now. This blog will follow my quest to land a job in the PR industry, hopefully in Japan, maybe in Asia, but then again, maybe anywhere in the world. Why limit yourself. I feel my skills in Sociology, Anthropology and various interests such as human relations, international relations and history as well as what I have learned teaching English in Japan give me a pretty good grounding to launch myself into my chosen career.
